The VEX Robotics Competition, also known as the VEX Robotics World Championship, was founded in 2003 in the United States by the Robotics Education & Competition Foundation (referred to as the REC Foundation). It is supported by several companies and organizations, including Carnegie Mellon University (CMU), the PJWT Foundation, NASA, and the Einstein Alliance (iSTEMn). To date, the competition has reached millions of young people in over 70 countries and regions, competing for the honor of participating in the finals.
Due to its wide coverage, large scale, and high number of participants, the VEX Robotics World Championship has set and broken the Guinness World Record for the largest robotics competition globally three times in the years 2016, 2018, and 2021.
